ECHO Refines Mission
You are probably aware that ECHO has been making numerous
enhancements to its payment systems, with still more plans to be
announced soon. From new partnerships and growing technological
depth we are expanding the reach of processing on behalf of our
customers. Our new ProStores/SerraHost partnership (see article
below) will provide far more features than was possible with the
popular but limited MerchantAmerica stores.
We have also been tackling tough issues like bolstering security
with an eye to exceeding PCI standards. This protects our merchants
as well as your customers, and will continue to be a focus of
educational efforts and our own internal process controls.
Separately, we are in the beginning stages of building new
reporting capabilities. We have already begun the work of
simplifying access to reporting (again, while maintaining security)
and more importantly making on-line reports more user friendly as well as more robust.
Our vision is to be the premier payment provider offering the best product features supporting electronic
payments for our customers. In the coming months, we will be enhancing our capabilities for serving
international commerce, which is a growing part of our customers' on-line sales and therefore a growing
opportunity for ECHO as well.
Coming Soon...
The Web Host with the Most
ECHO is pleased to announce a new partnership with the highly respected web hosting company,
SerraHost, as a means to provide an improved website and shopping cart solution for you and your
business. After evaluating both the success of MerchantAmerica and your valuable feedback, we went
on a search for a solution that would provide you with a greatly enhanced product. After seeing what
SerraHost had to offer, we knew we found the right solution.
SerraHost offers the award winning ProStores shopping cart solution which is owned by Internet auction
pioneers, eBay Inc. In addition to your other online sales, The ProStores solution will enable you to list,
manage, and sell products through eBay, increasing your potential sales and traffic to your website from
the 147 million eBay users.
You will receive a letter with information regarding the conversion of your new website with information
on the steps needed to activate it. Keep in mind that most of the conversion will be handled behind the
scenes. A specific date for this change will be given to you in that letter. During this transitional time,
only current MerchantAmerica stores will be using SerraHost. Soon, we will be offering these stores to
all merchants.

Scammer Ecards: When You Care Enough to Send the Very Worst
or
Beware of "Neighbors" Bearing Ecards
It used to be such a welcomed sight to find that someone had sent an ecard. Unfortunately, you
can no longer be absolutely certain that an ecard is being sent out of kindness or in an attempt
to commit fraud. Once again we have a service that was intended for good being used for evil.
Scammers now use ecards as a tool to entice computer users into downloading viruses, spyware,
or other harmful things.
Once opened, the damage that these imposter ecards can inflict goes far beyond the user's
computer alone. One version of these ecards tells the recipient to download certain software
so that they will be able to read their message. When this software is downloaded, the program
inundates everyone in the user's address book with more fraudulent ecards and other unwanted
messages.
What can I do to protect myself
against fraudulent Ecards?
The following is a list of clues to watch for and actions you can take so that you don't become a victim.
- Pay attention to who the ecard is from. If it is from a generic source (ie. neighbor, friend, classmate,
etc.), do not open it. In fact, delete any card that comes from someone you do not know.
- Never click on anything, download anything, or open an attachment from an unknown source.
- Unless you have read all the fine print, never click to accept terms or the End User License Agreement
(EULA) from any company.
- Use antivirus software and keep it updated.
- Don't open an ecard that has an attachment.
- Finally, if you are ever in doubt, don't open an ecard!
Be vigilant in protecting yourself. Pay close attention to any ecard that you may receive and treat it with
caution.
