Internet Payment Gateway Transaction Flow
Internet Transaction Flow

- The customer visits your web site,
selects the products or services desired, and decides to pay
with a credit card (all functions supported by your server or
your ISP).
- When the customer selects the
credit card payment option, he or she is routed to your secure
server (separate from your web site). Once there, the customer
enters the credit card number and card expiration date which is
encrypted before being routed to your (or your ISP’s) secure
server.
- Your secure server routes the
encrypted transaction to ECHO.
- In a matter of seconds, the
server
de-encrypts the transaction information and passes the
information to ECHO’s host computers. Then, the
merchant is validated as being authorized to process credit card
transactions through ECHO. ECHO’s host
computers then submit the transaction to the cardholder bank
through leased phone lines. The cardholder bank verifies the
card information and either approves or declines the
transaction, and this response is routed back through the same
channels back to the cardholder.
- If the transaction had been
approved, the funds from the consumer’s credit line are
transmitted to ECHO’s acquiring bank at the end of
the day.
- ECHO credits the
merchant’s account at the acquiring bank. (This takes
place two days after the transaction.)
